The Black Saturday Bushfires that started on 7th February 2009, predicated a change in building design requirements for structures in bushfire prone areas which are detailed in the AS3959-2009 Standard. Several levels of protection are defined to protect against heat and ember attacks depending on how close to the building combustible material is in the event of a bushfire.
All domestic and Commercial Screens are suitable as a bushfire screen for all BAL Zones. There are no special manufacturing or fixing requirements to conform to the AS3959-2009 Standard.
